What is CAREpackage?
Today's CAREpackage lets senders create customized gifts of opportunity, empowerment and hope. For example, the new CAREpackage will let you provide a year of schooling to a girl in Afghanistan, or transportation to the hospital so an expectant mother in Peru can safely deliver her child. How do I build and send a CAREpackage?
When you click on the orange “build your own CAREpackage” button in the top navigation bar, you will be taken to the build section of the site. There, you will see a list of items you can add to your CAREpackage. You can add items from three categories – 1) help her live, 2) help her earn and 3) help her learn. Just click on the images of the women corresponding to each category. Then, drag and drop the items of your choice into the brown CAREpackage box (look for the text “Drag items here.”) and use the slider to choose the amount you would like to donate. When you are ready to finalize and send your CAREpackage, click on the orange "send your CAREpackage" button to go through the checkout process.
How can CAREpackage make a difference?
When you send a CAREpackage, you are making a gift that supports CARE's global mission to end poverty. In fiscal year 2010, CARE supported 768 poverty-fighting projects in 70 countries to reach almost 57 million people, more than half of whom are women.
How do I invite other people to create and send a CAREpackage?
It’s easy to invite others to join you in sending a CAREpackage! Just click on the orange “share with friends & social networks” button in the top navigation bar. Then, you’ll have options to spread the word on Facebook, Twitter or other social networking sites, or to send a customizable e-mail to your friends, family and colleagues. If you’ve built a group CAREpackage, be sure to invite others contribute by adding more items to your box! On the bottom of the CAREpackage site, you’ll also find Facebook and Twitter icons to click to spread the word about CAREpackage to your friends and followers.
How do I join a group CAREpackage?
There are two ways to join a group CAREpackage: through a direct link someone sends you or by browsing through the different groups you’ll find once you click the orange “join a group CAREpackage” button in the top navigation bar. Then, simply click on the “join” button. Some group CAREpackages require a password, which you’ll get if you’ve been invited to that group CAREpackage. You must be logged in with a valid user account to join a group CAREpackage.
How do I create a group CAREpackage?
Log in to you account. Then, click on the orange “create a group CAREpackage” button in the top navigation bar. On the next screen, you will be prompted to create a group CAREpackage – or you can view your pre-existing CAREpackage from this page. If you hit the button to continue, you’ll go to a page to name your group CAREpackage. You’ll also have the option to put in a description, upload an image, create a password and set goals for your CAREpackage. Once you hit the orange button at the bottom of the screen, you’ll see your CAREpackage. Then, click on the orange “add items now” button to get your CAREpackage off to a great start!
I created a group CAREpackage. How do I edit it?
Log in to your account. Click on the link that says, "Your group CAREpackages" in the top right menu. On the next screen, find the group CAREpackage you want to edit and click on the orange "manage" button to see the details of your group CAREpackage. You can edit all of the fields on this page. Once you are finished, be sure to click the button to “save changes.”
I created a group CAREpackage. How do I invite others to join?
Log in to your account. Next, click on the orange “share with friends and social networks” button in the top navigation bar. Click on the "send invite" button. Using the drop-down menu, select the group CAREpackage you want to invite others to join, and add a personal message to your friends. Your friends will get an e-mail that tells them about the CAREpackage and includes a link to your group CAREpackage (and password, if you set one up).
How do I see the progress of my group CAREpackage?
Log in to your account. Click on the link that says, "Your group CAREpackages" in the top right menu. On the next screen, you’ll see the following totals for your group CAREpackage: members, donations and commitments, such as attending CARE’s annual conference or contacting Congress about an issue related to global poverty.
How can I track the progress of all CAREpackages?
You can view the global grand totals of all CAREpackages by clicking on the orange "View CAREpackage progress" button in the top navigation bar. In addition to seeing the total donations, commitments and group CAREpackages, you can click on the navigation buttons on the left side of the screen to see the breakdown of donations by item and the top CAREpackages sent by donation amount.
How can I make my CAREpackage a monthly donation?
After you build your CAREpackage, and click the orange “send your CAREpackage” button, you’ll be taken to a review page. At the bottom of the page, you may check the box to make your CAREpackage total a monthly donation to CARE. You can cancel your monthly donation, or change the amount, any time.

How will CAREpackage donations be spent?
The items and activities you place in a CAREpackage are symbolic examples of CARE's work to provide long-term solutions to poverty, as well as emergency relief. Your donation supports CARE's global mission and activities, rather than providing a particular initiative or item.

How do I create an account?
Create a free account by clicking on the “register now” link in the top right menu below the navigation bar. On the user account page, please enter your information and then click on the “submit” button. You will be logged in with your new user account and receive an account confirmation e-mail.
How do I log in?
Click on the “Log in here” link in the top right menu. You will be prompted to enter your username and password.
What do I do if I’ve forgotten my user name?
Here are three ways you can retrieve your user name:
- First, try to see if your e-mail address is your user name.
- If that doesn’t work, and you recently created your account, look at the e-mail you received that included your user name and password.
- If neither of these options work, please contact CARE Constituent Services at www.care.org/feedback or 1-800-422-7385.
What do I do if I’ve forgotten my password?
Click on the “Forgot password?” link and enter your e-mail address to generate an e-mail containing your user name and password.
